Week 11- Empathy

What is Empathy?

Empathy is the understanding of someone's thoughts and emotions.

Forced Connection Presentation

The Product: Travel Sized Cuticle Kit- Click here for the link to slideshow

This week's exercise was to  create a product using the recent skills we learned in class- Force Connections and Empathy. My group members and I shared a few interesting ideas, such as a smudge-proof glove for left-handed people when writing, and combining a wallet with a power bank. In the end, we settled on the idea of combining nail polish remover, gel polish UV light, nail files, and cuticle care products. I thought it was brilliant because it's an all-in-one package, consumers do not need to carry around various loose items.

A Picture A Day

Day 1

It is amazing to see artists working creatively with their hands to make intricate crafts.

Day 2

I was inspired to draw a sketch of my friend's dog with ball point pen.

Day 3

The trees in the garden stand so still next to each other, all strangers to one another.

Day 4

I did a painting of the things I wish I can own, thinking if I painted it realistically everything will come to life.

Day 5

T-owering above us
R-oots take up water
E-vergreens stay green all year
E-very day they keep us alive
This week was hectic. We were given a task to come up with a product based on forced connections, and also by feeling empathy towards others. My group members discussed to change the product numerous times as we felt there weren't enough information about it. When we finally settled on one new product, half of the week had passed. I tried my level best to come with a seemingly complete powerpoint presentation, but I was led down. If I were to do this all over again, I will not do my group project last minute. I wish we could all cooperate better.
